I was thrilled to receive the Gone But Not Forgotten Impact Award from the Mental Health Association of Nassau County (MHANC) at their inaugural Overdose Prevention & Awareness Walk on October 8th.
MHANC Executive Director Jeff McQueen was a fantastic host and fellow honoree Victor Ciappa always poignantly emphasizes prevention as we remembers his daughter, Natalie, who died of an overdose in 2008.
The three-mile walk was another opportunity to remember the thousands of Long Islanders who died preventable deaths, another chance to honor those working on the frontlines of prevention, treatment and recovery services and another opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to bring the overdose rate to zero.
